Validation of Connected and Automated Vehicles

This workshop will focus on current status and challenges in safety validation of automated vehicles as one of the key pieces to achieve a safer and more secure and transport system, as foreseen with the introduction of CAD on our roads. The session will include reflections that contribute to a commonly accepted validation framework and maximize safety from an holistic point of view, including: harmonized test and validation methodologies, on-going projects that address the new technical challenges arising from higher levels of automation, and focus on the importance of the human factor and HMI design as a key element to ensure system ”fair” reliance. The session will also present and discuss approaches for how to integrate security standards as part of the safety validation toolchain, and roadmap for alignment of technology and testing with the future regulations and consumer test programmes.
