United States release update report for 2017

03.09.2017

The US Department of Transportation has released an updated report on its activities in the field of ITS this week. The publication explores benefits, costs and lessons learnt on ITS, which are summarised in multiple fact sheets. Two new topics in the report are automation and connected vehicles. The Department of Transportation has made Advancing Automation a key strategic point for this year. Regarding connected vehicles, the department is working with state and local transportation agencies, vehicle and device makers, and the public to test and evaluate technology that will enable cars, buses, trucks, trains, roads and other infrastructure, and our smartphones and other devices to ‘talk’ to one another.” The CAD initiative collaborates with the United States in the field of ITS, for instance in developing a trilateral impact assessment framework.
