Safe introduction of automated driving is one of the greatest challenges ever faced
Every month, the CAD Knowledge Base VIP Blog gives one opinion leader in the field of Connected and Automated Driving (CAD) the opportunity to share their perspective on the role of knowledge in the future of CAD.
Josep Maria Farrán, Chief Executive Officer, Applus IDIADA shared his perspective in the latest edition of VIP blog. Speaking on automated driving, he expressed: “The safe introduction of automated driving is one of the greatest challenges that the automotive industry has ever faced, and for this reason it will be very important to adapt and change from a quantitative type-approval approach to a qualitative one.”
Farrán expressed there is a need for a new approach where regulators should address the existing challenges in new technologies. He said: “Considering the existing model, there is an evident mismatch between the performance of new technologies and the evaluation methodologies.”
