How Europe is performing on connected and automated mobility?
On 19 June 2018, the Forum for Mobility and Society (FMS) organised a breakfast policy event in which stakeholders interested in automated driving had the change to address some of the most important topics on the development of autonomous car technology in Europe.
The event was also an opportunity to discuss on the ‘Europe on the Move legislative package’ issued by the European Commission and the last recommendation for the deployment of C-ITS made by the European Parliament early this year.
Henna Virkkunen, Member of the European Parliament opened the event by addressing some of the current concerns related to cybersecurity, liability, skills, data protection and road safety. The MEP highlighted the need for a clear regulatory framework to guarantee fair competition and innovation.
Other keynotes such as Despina Spanou (Director for Digital Society, Trust & Cybersecurity at the European Commission) Antony Lagrange speaking (DG GROW), Johanna Tzanidaki (ERTICO), Fazilet Cinaralp (ETRMA) and Maik Böres (BMW Group) engaged in a very fruitful discussion on the future of connected and automated driving in Europe.
