Review of UK’s regulatory framework for automated vehicles

7 July 2021

The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) has asked the Law Commission of England and Wales and the Scottish Law Commission to undertake a far-reaching review of the legal framework for automated vehicles, and their use as part of public transport networks and on-demand passenger services.

This project is running from 2018 to 2021 and includes three rounds of consultation. Responses to the third consultation, launched in December 2020, have been analysed and a summary of responses and next steps, as well as a draft Impact Assessment and strategic economics report have just been published.

The final recommendations will be provided at the end of 2021.
