After more than three years of work the ADAS&ME project (1 September 2016 – 29 February 2020) showcased how the project makes the road usage safer and more efficient among different levels of automation. A video of the final event, which took place on 3 December 2019 at the consortium partner IDIADA HQ’s facilities in Barcelona, presents the different use cases (car, truck, electric vehicle, motorbike and bus), developed under the project, and their achievements.

You can find here all ADAS&ME use cases covering critical driving scenarios involving all vehicle types.

“ADAS&ME is a project where we take what we know about automated functionalities and put it together with the knowledge of driver state and the environment. Thanks to this we can make sure that we can support the drivers and the vehicle to have this safe transition between those two “, says Anna Anund (The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute – VTI), the Coordinator of ADAS&ME project.

ADAS&ME (Adaptive ADAS to support incapacitated drivers &Mitigate Effectively risks through tailor-made HMI under automation) was a Horizon 2020-funded project which aims to combine the knowledge of the evaluation of driver state with the situational and environmental assessment to manage specific interaction strategies. These include both HMI and automated functions, with the intention of ensuring safer and more efficient roads for all users. This works by offering systems that aim to mitigate the effects of adverse driver states on the capability of the driver to safely control a vehicle.
